The book Babad Tanah Jawi: The Chronicle of Java, edited and translated by Willem Remmelink, presents the revised prose version of C.F. Winter Sr.’s 19th-century adaptation of the Javanese chronicle. Unlike earlier poetic forms, this prose version was intended to standardize Javanese prose and make historical narratives more accessible. The chronicle traces Javanese history from mythological origins through the rise and fall of kingdoms such as Majapahit, Demak, Pajang, and Mataram up to the mid-18th century.
